This poem was written in response to a situation where a potential love interest of a friend of mine accused her of having romantic feelings for me because we love each other. My friend was trying to get him to understand that our love is deep and strong – but then he accused us of sleeping together, and accused her of lying when she said we had never done so. He was furious – saying that love as deep as ours is supposed to be could never be that deep and that strong without sex being involved. I sat at my computer and this was my response…
Love Is…
Love is…
More than hips undulating to passionate beat
Of frenzied hearts caught in
Blazing excitement,
More than lips fused together –
joining emotion at junction
of interlocking tongues
wrestling for dominance
to see which one
yields
first….
Love is…
More than the moans between
Two lovers rising from
Heaving breasts
Glistening chests
Rising from murmurs
To orgiastic screams
More than two bodies merged
Into one flesh
As man cleaves and melds into
Mate joining in the ultimate
Implosion of emotion
Melting nuclear
Reaction of
Passion ….
Love is
Hearts constructed from same mould –
Ice melts water rises into vapour
Same substance
Different forms
Souls connected across eternity, time
Warps into meaningless void
Infinity is as single day
Hearts beat with same rhythm
Drumming out
Love’s sensations…
Love’s un-breaking cord joins hearts –
Permanently fusing duelling organs
Into one new sentient
Being
With feeling …
Now joined…
No longer two separate
But one ultimate
Connection…

Indeed love is more than this…. it takes a lot of hard work and everyday commitment. Enjoyed your take on this specially the hearts beating in rhythm (yes, I am romantic)
Happy hearts day ~
