One Night Stand

I just had a flash of inspiration and wrote this.  I stole the first line off of my friend’s Black Berry Messenger status, and wrote this poem on a whim. It reminded a friend of mine about our festival season in my country of Barbados (Crop Over) – where a lot of people get into one night stands under the influence of the drinking and the party atmosphere – and where a lot of Crop Over babies are born 9 months later!

It came out so well that my best friend is wanting to write an erotic story around this piece.  Enjoy!

One Night Stand

Grab someone sexy and tell them ‘Hey’

Then steal a dance under the stars

Whisk their heart away

With a kiss,

Look them in the eyes

Let their heart fall into

your hands with your gaze

And watch it melt as you set it ablaze

With your passion…

Lips lock with the action

Of frenzied lovers too long kept apart

Drawing together with a force

Stronger than magnetism, we start

To exchange emotions

With our motions

Moaning and moving

As we make love in the dark.

And then morning comes.

The empty bed mocks mercilessly….

  2. LOVE this poem. Evocative yet subtle images. I love how the first line is part of a song… nicely put together!

    • I didn’t know the song when I first wrote the poem 🙂 I had seen the line as a BlackBerry Messenger status message and it intrigued me – it’s afterwards I heard the song – and fell in love with it too! 😀
