Poetry, serious poem

Shipwreck

I don’t only write about romance, love and sex.  This is a piece I wrote recently just pouring out my feelings …. it’s raw and unedited …. a first draft, if you will… but I am sure someone reading this will understand.  It is a simple poem, not as lyrically diverse as I usually write, but I was just trying to get my feelings out.

Shipwreck

Sometimes a smile is hiding the tears threatening to spill;

Cheeks beaming grins the dam that holds back the flood –

Just barely.  My soul trembles with the pain

as heart rent from heart, as promises dash upon the rocks

and relationship’s wreck sinks under possibilities’ sea.

I cling to reason’s driftwood, seeking sanity’s shore

But tides and torrential tornadoes strike

And pull me deeper into desperation’s inky darkness.

Seeking salvation, I cry out for help….

A lonely heart drifting, being carried where it will by mighty tides.
