Sleep’s Puzzle

This poem is my remembering a nice cuddle I had once, and also reminiscent of a friend’s poem. Cher’s poem, “I LOVE YOUR WAY”, can be read here.  And now, for my own installment, I give you

Sleep’s Puzzle

Arms pull you close

Drawing living essence

From your presence

As chin finds comfortable seat

In the crease between

Your neck and shoulder,

Nose pressed to skin

Drinking you in

Back pressed to chest,

Best protection against cold air

Snuggling deep into lover’s embrace

Slowly stroking lock of hair

Rebelliously tickling naked cheek

Sneaking from behind the ear

Like little girl playing hide-and-seek

Joined at the hip, we slip

Into a comfortable place

Two pieces fit together

Love’s jigsaw puzzle

Now complete.

  4. It IS nice when you can be intimate with another and it all fits, rather that gives you fits! Those are moments that deserve to linger in poetry, and you have captured one well. Thanks for this!

  5. Really nice, agree completely- Brian summed up my thoughts pretty well- but really like the puzzle metaphor- it works very well for you in this piece, thanks for a good read

  19. Definitely, I love when me and my intended do exactly what you say….snuggling deep in lover’s embrace…it feels good to be in someone’s arms who loves you and you he.

You were right, it is somewhat similar to my “Two pieces of a puzzle”. Beautiful…I’ll think of it tonight 🙂
