Pollination

I was challenged by my poetry workshop tutor to write a poem that was a running metaphor.  This is one of the pieces I wrote with that in mind.

Pollination

Rose

budding

blooming

slipping open slowly

releasing sweet scent

intoxicating

awaiting arrival

proboscis entering

feasting on nectar

Also posted for D’Verse Poets Pub – OpenLinkNight.  Doors open Tuesday (every Tuesday at 3pm EST.)

  6. I must agree with you bajanpoet, I saw that sensuality with the flower opening herself and almost seducing the bee or butterfly…. I saw that very clearly…… good write……..

  13. Yee-hah! My first visit to your blog and I get an erotic poem on nature! Talk about first time being the charm, LOL.

This was a masterful string of metaphors. And you know what they say about a big proboscis…! Really, a pleasure to read. Thanks again for stopping by my place. I’ll be back! Amy
