Mental Missionary

I was having a wonderful conversation with a friend of mine last night on Facebook.  She mentioned that sex is more than the physical act and that engaging people on the level of the mind and intellect is much more satisfying.  This poem came out of that conversation.  Enjoy!

Mental Missionary

(For Riney)

Literary lips

licking frontal lobes

Stretching sensuality with sound of voice

Touching without hands

The centre of your being

Making love to your mind

Thoughts twisting

Fisting

Clenching

Sparring words:

I give, you take

You parry, I fake …

Feel you rake

nails down cerebral spine.

Your thoughts supine

leak ambrosia’s oil;

stimulating speech

leaves eager emotions wet,

anticipating intellectual entry:

Mental missionary.

  3. Truly a great mind play! Very mindful aren’t you? Had to I hope you don’t mind…haha Really enjoyed your verse, very sensual feel to it, longing to touch but only doing it through the mind.

  4. Nicely done. Clever! “licking frontal lobes” made me do a double-take and pay closer attention. Love it.

  6. I LOVE this! The power of the written word is one thing, to hear them spoken with passion, discussed, conversation over steaming cups of coffee…no better foreplay…engage my mind and I’ll follow you any where! lol

  8. Excellent! This reminds me of an old song, The Girl in the Very Tight Hat, by John Weldon. Hope the lady who inspired this appreciated what you do with your conversation.

  10. So true. I like this a lot–very graceful, but strong and vivid language with a lot of punch. They say the most erotic part of the body is the mind.

    • It’s a good piece. I have a friend that tells me it seems like it’s missing something – like it should be longer with some more lines just before the last one. I dunno… I kinda like it how it is, though it could probably be expanded…

  13. Good stuff!

    The theme reminds me of that poem you sent me looking for on Youtube when he said, “I wanna get to know you from your neck…UP!)

    Sweet =)

  14. Ah, the sweet joining of minds! Should co-celebrists exclaim in staccato shouts whenever they share an Idea? Are thoughts best explored mutually on a bed? Or in the dark? Or in the stacks at the library? What can co-cerebrists touch upon that is most likely to bring great mutual stimulation? In the house of ideas, what should be placed upon our lips?

    I want more, I guess. Worth looking into?

  16. cool idea, mental missionary. this brought to mind a kind of surreal sensuality that WSBurroughs was famous for. You’ve evoked a weird interstice perhaps between digital and real world.

  18. An interweaving of creative juices, animal and literal…. And of how words skilfully crafted can get under the skin.

  19. I was very engaged reading the comments (!!). I realised I hadn’t seen enough on reading and so re read. You are very clever indeed. It must feel great just to let go of poems like that, that they come out like they do – so well, stunning.
