Pursuit

This poem was inspired by a photo of one of my friends that I saw on Facebook. I was mesmerized by the artistic pose and told her I wanted to save the photo and write a piece off of it.  She gave me permission, and I wrote this ….

Pursuit - Photo Prompt

Pursuit

Forest holds

breath.

Her eyes

whisper,

“Come….”

She

ran

I

pursued

Deep into forest

Desire giving speed

to beating heart

Feet  sure on

hidden path

Longing

Inspired chase

seeking

fleeting nymph

sparkling

Winking like

babbling brook,

blinking cheekily

in the sun.

Caught her

on the shore

flashing eyes

liquid fire

water crashing

fluid desire

Wanting to hold

her

possess

her

Be one.

Natural beauty

stuns me into

 Stillness.

We kissed

The bliss of our lips

slipping past

our reserve

conserved

tongues

exploring

Wrapped in

blanket of leaves

connecting with

Earth

passion exploding

Being one

resting

on

cresting

waves

emotions

undulating

under writhing vines

shivering spines

rocking in and out

of mottled sunlight

playing peekaboo:

dark, then light

then dark again.

Our cries

joined

like our hips.

Nature

rejoiced.

  8. Exceedingly sensual. Enticing in pace and content. You pull in the reader and then take them on the speed-shot ride.

  12. ThankI you for your visit to my blog, Bajan poet. I like this poem very much, but wonder how much more effective it could have been broken into longer lines? My old eyes find it hard to keep the place with all these ultra-short lines and double spacing. I’d be interested to see it with different lineation.

  13. That is indeed a stunning pose–almost feral, and a beautiful woman indeed–enjoyed the chase she led you in fantasy here.
