Valentine’s WordShine

For over a month now, I have been sharing short love poems with a friend of mine every morning.  It was a way of trying to get into her heart.  Well, I think I’ve succeeded – but not how I wanted! *grin* We’re great friends and even deeper friends now that when I first expressed interest in her.  As I have told her today, my motivation has changed from wanting to be her boyfriend to just bringing joy to her every morning as she sees a new verse.  She’s coined a phrase for them – she called the morning verses her wordshine, as she awakens to a new verse each day.  As this is Valentine’s Day, I thought I would share the one I wrote today.  May it bring joy to someone who reads it 🙂

Valentine’s Wordshine

Words shine from my pen

like shy sun tinging sky

with her blush.

Slowly forming pictures in your mind

Michaelangelo’s brush

adding shade and colour to every line

making each rhyme come alive, dance in time

to the beating of my racing heart

Words start to gather, tumbling out in a race

trying to keep pace – one step ahead – of fraying nerves

must get it out, must conserve momentum,

“Baby, be mine – not just for Valentine’s

but always, forever, all time….”

There, it’s been said

fear and dread palpable

didn’t think I would be capable

of voicing my need! Now the deed is done…

and one can just

wait….

  2. Very nice. I liked the way it flowed – seemed to speed up with anticipation in the middle then slow to the wait at the end. Peace, Linda

  11. So lovely, Bajan. I can’t speak for her heart, but it has certainly put a smile (and just a tiny touch of envy) in mine.

  14. “Wordshine” !!! What a wonderful word for this poetry!!

This is a tender poem, full of yearning and trepidation….and courage of love too. It takes energy and courage to speak your heart, and you have done very well with this.

I would wake with joy upon receiving this heart-felt poem and each morning???

This is honest, delicate and lovely writing. It reveals a tender heart, too.

Bravo! The world needs more of this!
