Emperor and Empress

There’s a reason for my joviality in my last post ‘Nine‘ and I have been pretty caught up in that – that plus other things has been why no one has seen me around my blog for the past three weeks or so. (Phew, who knew dust could gather so quickly? *Blows cobwebs* *cough cough cough*)  Anyhow, my baby’s writing a book – about her life and how she’s overcome a lot of abuse and hardship and has come out the other side stronger for it.  She wanted to end the book on a positive note and she said to me that all of the poems that she wrote in her book about the kind of man she wanted to meet to take her out of the mess she was in – she said I fit every one of the criteria, and she wrote the poems long before we met!  So she decided that I was to write the last entry in her manuscript, a reply to the poem she wrote about me (before meeting me) called Mr Undefeated.   (I’ll ask her permission and I might post it here for you guys to read.)

Shameless plug: the book isn’t ready to be published yet, but anyone interested can follow her on Twitter at @EmpressColleen or Like her Facebook page for the book “Who Feels It, Knows It”  – http://www.facebook.com/WhoFeelsItKnowsIt

The poem below is my take on her life, and how it changed and is going to change since we came into each other’s life.  Basically, it is my reply to “Mr. Undefeated”  Enjoy!

Emperor and Empress

Tortured soul stripped –

painful strokes snowballing;

life not throwing curveballs,

but cat-o-nine tail whipping.

Each new day another trial

worse than the one before

Slave master sharing blows

making scorched skin sore.

Life’s lashes rain down

flaying exposed skin

Abuse on top of abuse

Soul’s tender flesh wealing

Wailing cry assaulting

crispy morning air

Each circumstance another blow

Soul trembles in naked fear

But – wait!

Surprisingly, slave girl gets loose

No timid girl, she –

The searing pain ignites the warrior

within her tiny body

She bucks and fights with everything

Not willing to give in

to life’s abusive lashing blows

She must survive –  and win!

Whenever warrior lands a strike

Life rears its ugly head

and comes right back with another blow

trying to knock her dead

But suddenly a Savior

steps boldly into view

and starts helping warrior girl

to beat down and subdue…

Together, the combined pair

match Life punch for punch

until Life – weakened from the fight

buckled, with shoulders hunched

Now sexy Saviour faced the dame

and started to caress her

he tended wounds and made her swoon

They’re facing Life together

Slave no more, once frightened girl

was shown a different life

A world that actually was quite calm,

without the pain and strife.

Romance bloomed fast between the two

as the pair connected

feelings of love grew fast and full

Lost desires resurrected!

Now Emperor and his Empress

The two walk hand in hand

And when Life tries to take revenge

the pair fight back – they stand!

    • I’m thinking it IS the difference for us, Brian … I aim to be the type of man that puts all the others that abused her to shame! 🙂 Thanks for the accolades on the story format of my piece, too 😀
