Let Me / Let You

This is my first FB collab… it’s a collaboration between myself and Iris Flow, another one of my FB friends who has some awesome poetry in her FB notes.  I honestly thought I had this on my blog already …. how in heaven’s name did I not ……  Another thing… forgive the contractions in the text – my part of the collab was written on my phone, so expanding ‘u’ into ‘you’ … you get my point.

Anyway, as I was saying …

She thought it was going to be hard coz she came up with the concept, but then said she is not a mushy person …. She was trying to make it easy for me and we were going to write around the theme of “Let Me Get Through” – the male voice is trying to get into the heart of the female voice.  I told her she doesn’t have to be mushy – she should just be herself.  This is what we came up with….

Passion:

LET ME THRU

Let me thru….
Coz I’m into u
Know the lies you were fed
Razor tongues stabbed u in the head
Silky smooth gossip choked,
Left u for dead.
Know u don’t trust
But it’s true;

Coz I’m into u.

Let me thru
Not like these other dudes that used u.
Wanna remove thesharp edged fragments,
Hedged defense ’round heart,
wedged between hurt emotions
And the part of ur soul u still recognize
U running? I’m not into lies
I speak truth till it hurts:
sling truth like sharp edged knives
Flung at far away bulls-eyes
And hit dead centre

speechless
All I need is just one kiss

Shield protects from dragon’s fire

LET YOU THROUGH?

Let you through?
I’ve got nothing left behind
so this is something new,
a bridge of nervous steps and crimson hue,
so what say you?

I know sometimes my
gates are usually locked,
I’ve bled tears of heart ache
and burned in just one plot
I run away from what I’ve got –
Is that what you want?

To let you through?
And let the lilies fester
as they usually do
and cut steel over my scarred
garment though its become so few
My hurt turns stone to fire
What have I?

My pain feeds lies to burned tires
Why should I?
Hmmm I do not claim to,
Unless i let you through –
Perhaps I don’t want to…

Or should I
cover my past with a sheet
and continue to let the foot prints fade
move forward to the unseen
to be stabbed with that blade,
but it never looks golden,
thanks to all those bows stolen from Cupid’s hands
and
I think am afraid to let you through
and
It’s not because the grass on that side wasn’t greener,
It’s because he watched them wishing they were cleaner,
so I don’t know if I should let u through…

Let you through?
I do not know what I want
but maybe I want you
I hate you most of the time
but sometimes I need you,
its all up to me…
