Completion

Was working on a birthday verse for a friend and because I didn’t remember today was Tuesday (national holidays on Mondays will do that to you!) I realized I didn’t have a new piece for Open Link Night 90 today over at D’Verse.  So see me scrambling in my finished pieces and fragments on my phone looking for a piece.  Luckily I did find one – one of my daily poems for my love 🙂

Who has ever felt completed by a partner? You did, too? Awesome. Check out my poem…

Completion
You complete me like the last puzzle piece,
Like the final word in an author’s manuscript.
You complete me with the flourish of a conductor’s final wave
That brings the choir to the climactic crescendo
And moves the audience to rapturous applause.
You complete me with the ease of Usain Bolt breezing to the finish line,
The other runners mere specks in the distance.
You complete me with your signature carefully written
On the masterpiece of fine art that is my life
After you have carefully painted your heart into my chest
And given me the kiss of life.
My love, you complete me with the passion of an orgasm
Bursting the banks of control with the fury of an overpowering tsunami
Overwhelming all my senses.
You completely envelop me
And I am undone instantly
Like the puzzle that is happily dismantled after completion
Waiting eagerly for you to complete me again….

  1. nice…rather like the painting of the heart into the chest…and giving the gift of life…and also the thought of a completed puzzle contrasted with being undone…

  3. Like WOW Robert! I was looking for the 10 star button but only found 5 so was kind of limited in my rating – my apologies. Beyond a doubt, this is real love poetry at its best (strong powerful imagery that was yet so tender) and I agree with an earlier comment because: damn, I want that too 😀 Pure niceness.

  7. All I could do was sigh ever so softly…wishing I had someone who utterly and completely completed me like that last puzzle piece….but until then I will continue to read your words and hold out hope 🙂 Great piece. That lady of yours is very lucky to have you x
