I haven’t posted in here for a little while, but I decided to break my silence today. I’m in love, and I’m Passion, after all, so I decided to release one of my personal poems to my Beloved on my blog. For all of you reading this, go kiss your significant other… or go find one. 😉
PS – Kudos to my poetic brother Corey Springer on his new book “LIKE A SUNSET OVER DE GULLY” and if you are in Barbados check out his book launch this coming Sunday, September 22nd. Here’s the FB Event page. I reference him also because his writing style influenced this piece. 🙂 Enjoy
LOVEBIRDS
Love birds
Sing sweetly
The harmony
Of unity
Thrilling the
Auditory
Canals of the
Awaiting
Audience.
Wrapped in
Rapt attention
Not wanting to
Miss a note
As these love
Birds’ lives
Are heard
Love binds
Us two
To-
Gether
To get her
To be connected
To another
Took courage
As her heart
Took off
And flew
Across the sea
Landed here
In Bim *
With me
Lovebirds’
Birth
Berthed
Within twin hearts
Started with
Quick spark
Sudden
Lit a flame
Inflamed passions
Fashioned an
Eternal bond
Forged in the fire
Inspired to invest
Time
Money
Energy
Building a home
A place for lovebirds
To roost
Permanently
And we
Build our nest
One small twig
At a time.
* – “Bim” is one of the nicknames for my country, Barbados

Love is beautiful, as is this poem. Really like the idea of building the ‘nest’ one twig at a time. Enjoy!

that is all it takes…one small spark to set the world on fire…to get the ball rolling…and building a nest one twig at a time shows care….

Love the effect of the echoing chain rhymes – and the clever playing with your words too; together/to get her is a favourite … smiles.

As I mention in my introduction to this piece, that together / to get her and other similar wordplay is inspired by my brother Corey. Thanks so much for liking my take on his style 🙂

This poem made me long for Puerto Rico, for that scent of salt air and the warmth which allowed caged birds to fly freely into the rain forest…
The building of a nest, yes, it takes time, energy, and the commitment of true love. Thank you for a sweet poem! And thanks so much for sharing at Real Toads’ Open Link Monday. Amy (a humble Toad)

added your friend as a friend, the style seems refreshingly different. This reinforces my desire that the next one I feel deep passion for, well… for that I am saving myself. But Lawd Jesus, Corey what a feast with ten saints and what glorious cake! The expression on that parrots face is priceless! well, thru passionate human eyes anyway.
