you're reading...

I was gonna keep this poem quiet for a while, but after seeing a post on a blog I follow (“Off Go the Panties“)  where she was talking about seduction using words, I just had to post this new poem.  Check it out!

I want to seduce you lyrically,
Let my poetry slip easily past your mental detectors.
Let down your guard, power down the deflectors
That act as reflectors to my advances;
Coz I want to advance this…
I want to speak rings around your fingers.
I want to let oral couplets linger around your soul,
Making you fold into me with the power of my voice.
You won’t realize I’ve removed the power of choice
Until it is way too late to back out ….
But I’m not one to just exercise power over you –
I want the ability to weave myself around you romantically;
Like the vine called love, I want to grow into you
And have you grow into me
Until the only separation existing
Is between this stanza
And the next.

Don’t get vexed

Together, you and I will make similes smile
And we will be one in poetic communication
Spinning life stanzas without cessation.
So, let my words be your seduction.
Follow my instructions as we become love’s personification.
Let my words be the rhythmic oration that
Makes my heart speak in sonnets.
It may even break into phonics trying to break down your defenses.
My heart won’t stop until you see how weak the metaphoric fence is
And until you give me access to your inner sanctum.
My lyrics are far from random –
They are strategically placed to lace your heart with desire,
Ignite a fire within your cerebellum
And release the river south of your border.
I’m not one to speak in hyperbole –
But I don’t want to exaggerate the intensity of my imagery
When you are my muse.
I’m not confused; all I know is that
You’re the one that makes my pen stir
My fingers are all a-blur,
Scribing the verses that ensure your poetic seduction
But – you know that this ….
Is only the

  3. Overwhelmingly sensual linguistically. Truly a grand seduction taking place with well chose and placed words. >KB

  4. I can almost see a performance for this poem – a wonderfully ‘spoken’ poem, particularly the first stanza.

Love that! And, yeah, this definitely begs to be performed.

  8. It felt like a rap, a poem with movement, if you know what I mean. I wish I could write with such raw emotion.

  9. It’s humbling that my words could inspire such beauty. Thank you.
