love poem, Poetry

First

Can anyone remember the euphoria of new love? Of doing things for the first time – or rediscovering  new things with your significant other?  This is a simple love poem celebrating firsts – maybe not as metaphorically rich as my usual work, but nevertheless the way I feel …. This piece will be shared with d’Verse Poets Pub for Open Link Night – starting Tuesday 3 PM EST.  Enjoy the poem 🙂

First
Time feeling
You shudder

Uttering
My name
A prayer

To stay
Right
There

Yes baby
Oh God!

First tear
Fearing
Time apart

Starting
Anew

Fresh

First….
But nowhere near
The last….

  2. love is def full of firsts…and in love each is significant…my wife still asks me the name of the song on our first dance….so its good to remember when they happen as well…ha…all things new…

  3. I like the brevity of this – as fleeting as the firsts themselves. Very good read.

  4. I too love the brevity here–it works so well in the tumult of emotional context–

  6. The short lines work well to convey that breathless excitement of fresh love. A lot of sussurating, scintillating ‘s’ words there too, to titillate the senses…

  9. Love the flow, the brevity…There is a breathy feeling to it…Passion often has one catching their breath. Beautiful
