I’ve yet again found a poem hiding in my archives, a poem that I wrote a little while ago and after letting it rest for a while realized that it is good as it is for now. I like this piece – also easy to read aloud. Β Enjoy this piece of
Self Discovery
I wish I could take you in my arms
And kiss you –
Just once.
And in that kiss would be all my desire
All the fire bottled up in me
That I can’t release easily.
Want to pull you close and caress your face
Trace the path of tears down your cheek
Seek to expunge you of the pain
You try not to reveal
And conceal behind a smile
When all the while your heart is breaking
I want to plunge inside you
Skin to skin
Breaking a sweat
Whetting your appetite
Making you crave more
Like an addict needing another hit
Another fix
As we six-
ty nine
And knot into sublime
Sexual configurations
Not just because you draw me
In
Like moth drawn to fiery grave
But because I want to
Paint self-assurance on your skin
Confidence in your curves
Give birth to
A sense of worth
Because seeing you excites me
Our conversations thrill and
Delight me
And self doubt is a blight, see
Robbing you internally
From seeing the full extent
Of your beauty
Not just emotionally
But physically
So know, my love,
That really
There is more to you than you realize
And what I see with my eyes
Makes me want to explore
Learn more….
And be a part of your
Self discovery.
love this poem, your work is beyond mind blowing

Hot! I get a look at the men’s view…that sex would make self esteem better. Sounds a bit like the cart before the horse. This takes nothing away from the way you intertwine your words and make beautiful poetry.

Well, this isn’t the ‘men’s view’ – as in I’m not speaking for all men here; it’s just based on a convo I had with a friend … the way I was telling her she needed to have a better self esteem because this is how looking at her made me feel. It’s like – the women that I know that think they look ‘ugly’ are the ones who are drop dead gorgeous … and the ones who think they are all that – well, how can I say this delicately….
Thanks for the compliments on the verse, tho … I appreciate it π

love how you want to help her, seeing herself in a more loving way…in our world that strives for perfection and beauty, more and more fail to see their own beauty…good on you that you point it out in such a tender way

Thanks so much for seeing the tenderness, Claudia… it’s not in a machismo sex = love way, but in an “I love you, let me show you how much u mean to me” kind of way….

There’s hunger and desire in here, but there is the sense of something more too – something of giving and not just taking, of affirming and building up. This would sound wonderful out loud – although I think my accent isn’t quite right for it.

So true, Brian … I mean it took ME years to see myself with any self worth, so I understand. People would tell me I was handsome and I’d be like …who?????

What a poem of love and desire this one is very heart warming and shows how a person wants to embrace and hold on to show the love. Here is my entry for this week: http://gatelesspassage.com/2013/02/04/mothers-love/
